How To: Seed Starter Sets

Our seed starter sets are easy to use and just require a little water, warmth, and sunshine.

  1. Soak a cocoa coir puck in water—about 2 Tablespoons to 1/4 Cup should work. If you oversaturate it (if it’s “wet-shiny”) allow it to dry overnight. Too wet and it will suffocate your seeds.

  2. Place the puck in the biodegradable pot. Optionally, soak a second pot and use some of the extra coir to pad the bottom of the pot if you want more height to the growing medium.

  3. Flake the top of the coir (I use a fork) to loosen the growing medium.

  4. Sprinkle a few seeds on top. How many is up to you. I use more with smaller seeds and break apart the seedlings for planting. However, too many and they’ll choke one another out. You can also thin as they start to grow—but it’s so hard to pull successful seedlings!

  5. Lightly cover with the loosened coir.

  6. Sit in a window and water whenever the top looks dry. Again, don’t overwater or you’ll drown your seeds/seedlings.
