How To: Golden Milk
Whether you take it to relieve inflammation or you simply enjoy the flavor, golden milk is an easy, healthy (in moderation) herbal potion to make. This version calls for lite coconut milk, but you can make it with almond milk or cow’s milk as well.
Gather supplies—You’ll need
32 grams turmeric
2 14-ounce cans of lite coconut milk
a saucepan
a sealable glass jar or bottle
Mix turmeric and coconut milk in saucepan and bring to a boil. NOTE: Stay with your saucepan while bringing this mixture to a boil. Once it hits boiling, it foams and boils over quickly—and turmeric stains. It’s a real mess to clean up.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. This process is called decocting or making a decoction.
Allow to sit for 1 hour.
Pour into sealed glass container and store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If using chunks of turmeric rather than powder, strain here with cheesecloth or sieve.
Drink 2 ounces 3 times daily to treat inflammation. Always consult with your physician before adding herbal remedies to your diet as they may conflict with other medication.
In spellwork, turmeric root is correlated with healing and strength. In herbalism, it’s used as a potent anti-inflammatory, to improve memory, to ease chronic pain, and to promote heart health.
