• Mortar & Pestle—Vintage, possibly antique—Papier-mâché on brass mortar with brass-tipped papier-mâché pestle, signed by Suffering Moses. Pestle is 4.375" long. Mortar is 4" tall at pointed ends, 1.875" tall at lowest point, 6.125" wide (tip to tip), 2" wide at base. Suffering Moses art dates from at least 1915, if not older. The original artist, owner of the eponymous vintage shop in Kashmir (read more here or here), has most likely left us, but his descendants seem to have taken up the artistic style. Each piece was hand-crafted and hand-painted, truly unique. Most of the mortars I have found are missing their pestles, making this one a great find. The brass has bent away from the papier-mâché in one corner, near the pointed tip, but there is no water damage or flaking of the paper (see photos). Some expected aging to brass, all painting is in excellent condition. Overall in good condition.

• Chalice—Used, possibly vintage—Fluted clear glass stemware, 1.75" diameter at mouth, 6" tall. No chips or cracks. Very good condition.

• Athame—Used, possibly vintage—Embroidery scissors, 3.625" long. This style of scissors has been manufactured for years, but this set is definitely newer. Excellent condition.

• Spoon—Antique—Whiting oval demitasse spoon, Square Twist #5, 3.875" long. Lightly polished. Dates from the 1880s. Good condition.

• Box—Vintage—Brasstone and sivlertone box with repousse lid, 1.5" tall, 2.25" diameter at widest point. Dates from the 1990s. Very good condition.

• All items have been cleaned thoroughly (bottles sterilized with alcohol), dirt and rust removed wherever possible without damaging the item. All corks are new unless otherwise noted in the item description. To prevent damage, old and delicate fabrics (i.e.: silk, macrame) have been steamed and/or ironed), but they have not been water washed or dry cleaned.

• We ship on Tuesdays and Friday. If you have an urgent need before then, please contact us.

• We recycle packaging as much as possible, so you may receive some eccentric packing material with your purchase.

• We do our best to keep pet hair away from our sets and kits, but we do—happily—own pets. Pet hair occasionally finds its way into boxes and packing material. If you are allergic to cats, please let us know so we can prepare your items for shipping accordingly.
